MARYVILLE —William Blount’s football team kept its offense simple Friday night and won the crucial Region 2-5A opener.
Senior quarterback Jaxon Dabrowski accounted for five touchdowns as the Governors posted a 48-35 victory over visiting Clinton.
Dabrowski rushed for 144 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards on 27 carries. He completed 4 of 9 passes for 75 yards and one touchdown.
“I think it was just preparation,” Dabrowski said. “Our coaches got us ready for this game. Our offensive line really locked in this week, and it was a good win for us.”
Any win in the expanded eight-team Region 2-5A is critical in the playoff picture with the top four teams advancing to the postseason.
