MARYVILLE — Messiah Wrenn bounced to the outside, then darted towards the middle of the field.
The speedy West running back danced through the William Blount defense before catching the far sideline at Mike White Field on Friday.
Wrenn glanced back once at the one Governor defender angling towards him. He looked back again and this time he was sure. In one 65-yard stride Wrenn proved that the Rebels could strike from long distance, too.
On a night where West began six of its nine scoring drives in plus territory, Wrenn’s run on the first play of the third quarter put the exclamation point on the Rebels’ convincing and much-needed 59-14 win at William Blount.
