SEVIERVILLE — Cooper Newman, the junior standout quarterback from Sevier County, and his teammates lingered on the field after a Monday practice in October.
Three days earlier, Sevier County’s 21-game win streak, which included the 2024 TSSAA Class 5A state title, was halted in a 33-31 loss to Grace Christian Academy on its home turf.
After the coaches walked off the field, the team stayed behind.
