MARYVILLE – Lots of preparation paid off for the Cosby girls’ soccer team Tuesday night.
Sophomore forward Stella Raines had a goal and assist, leading the Lady Eagles to a 2-0 victory over host Eagleton College and Career Academy in the elimination semifinals of the Region 1-A soccer tournament.
Third-year Cosby coach Maddy Dawson said her team watched plenty of film, preparing for ECCA.
“We knew they were a physical, talented, and athletic team,” Dawson said. “We knew the field was bigger than we were used to, much wider, much longer. We had to prep, for sure, but it means a lot to win on this field against a really great team like this.”
