STRAWBERRY PLAINS — Joseph Armenta gathered in a screen pass from Brody Sparks and turned up field.
He zipped past CAK’s Gabriel Linkous and raced 33 yards down the sideline and turned a third-and-long into a red zone opportunity for Carter, which was suddenly on the doorstep after trailing by three scores earlier in the second quarter.
One play later, Linkous high-pointed another Sparks’ pass and snuffed out the Hornets’ drive.
The sequence became the theme for both the Christian Academy of Knoxville and Carter in their scrimmage Friday at Hooper Eblen Field.
