MARYVILLE — Davey Gillum was suddenly filled with uncertainty.
As Thomas Bowers darted into the end zone after intercepting a Deameion Leavell pass and returning it 23 yards for a touchdown that put Heritage up two scores in the span of 16 seconds at Jack Renfro Stadium Friday, the Anderson County head coach wasn’t sure how his team and its new-look offense would respond.
Leavell and Jayzon Thompson quelled his concerns – at least for one night.
