WHITE PINE — CAK baseball coach Tommy Pharr has seen plenty of runs, hits, balls and strikes during his career.
He’s also seen so many of his players go on to graduate, build careers, get married and have families.
Through it all, it’s the latter that stands out to Pharr, who picked up his 1,000th career win on Tuesday.
CAK knocked off Lakeway Christian Academy 14-1 at Lakeway in five innings in the semifinals of the Division II-A East Region Tournament.
Pharr was honored — and doused with ice — after the game.
“I’ve coached a long time, that’s the biggest thing it means,” Pharr said about his milestone.
“I’ve coached a lot of good players, a lot of good kids, a lot of good people and I’ve got a lot of good memories. I’ve been doing it long enough where I get to see guys grow up and have families, that means more to me than anything.”
