Catholic’s volleyball team got an ugly win Tuesday night.
The Lady Irish posted a 3-1 victory at rival Webb School of Knoxville, gaining an early-season lead in the Division II-AA East Region standings.
Every match is critical in the region, which consists of five teams. Only the top four teams in the East Region’s regular season advance to the Division II-AA state tournament.
There are no district or region tournaments in which to qualify for state.
“These matches mean everything, so it’s how you finish the regular season,” Catholic coach Brent Carter said.
