Hardin Valley Academy’s volleyball team always brings its best against Maryville, and Tuesday night was no different.
The Lady Hawks defeated visiting Maryville 3-1 in front of a raucous crowd, leaving the top of the District 4-AAA standings in a logjam.
“The energy was very high today,” HVA sophomore outside hitter Parker Lamb said. “It definitely helped us.”
Right before the match started, the fire alarm went off in the HVA gym, and it had to be evacuated. Even that didn’t hinder the Lady Hawks.
“We came in and we prepared ourselves, and I think we came back ready,” Lamb said.
HVA coach Eric Boden had them ready.
