MARYVILLE — Teagan Ruehling knows better than anyone what Gaven French’s best stuff feels like.
“It’s fun — it hurts,” the Heritage catcher said. “Your hand gets beat up, bruises all up in the hand, but catching him is fun.”
Ruehling smiled when he said it, but there was truth in the description.
French’s fastball had life, his breaking pitches had bite and Alcoa spent most of Friday night night reacting late.
And when the Tornadoes finally threatened, Ruehling saw a familiar switch flip.
