Anderson County isn’t used to sweating out region games. Not after eight straight region titles. Not after averaging more than 60 points in four region victories this season. And certainly not after a first half in which the Mavericks rolled up yardage almost at will Friday night at South-Doyle.
But a pick-six. A kickoff return for a touchdown. Another pick-six. Suddenly, the scoreboard said the Mavericks were in a full-blown fight.
So they turned to the most dependable answer they had: senior running back Jayzon Thompson.
