Central’s offense hadn’t missed a beat all night Thursday, and the Bobcats’ last possession of regulation was no different.
Powell tied the game at 35 with 5:15 left in regulation, but Central took over and marched down the field. Bobcat QB Kaden Long was knocking on the door, running the ball six times inside the 15-yard line.
Powell’s defense held strong all the way down to the 3-yard line — forcing Central to settle for a field goal.
The kick was hooked to force overtime.
Powell struck first in overtime, and Central missed the extra point. The Panthers escaped with a come-from-behind 42-41 win on Thursday night in Fountain City, moving into the driver’s seat of Region 2-5A.
