West’s double dip did Bearden in.
The Rebels scored right before halftime and to open the second half on their way to a 21-6 road triumph over the Bulldogs to begin the high school football season on Friday.
It was a season opener that was also supposed to happen last year, but was canceled by inclement weather. Instead, West started its 2025 season at Maryville and Bearden traveled to Alcoa, both losses. This year, one of these schools was guaranteed to start its campaign on a positive note.
