MURFREESBORO — For the Farragut High School baseball team, the Admirals experienced the same ole, same ole Tuesday in their Class 4A state tournament opener.
And to them, the four-time defending state champs, that wasn’t a bad thing.
Farragut rallied from an early deficit to down Collierville 6-3 on a blistering hot day at host site Oakland High School.
Maybe the familiarity factor outweighed the UV index, because Farragut won Tuesday on the same field it won the 2025 Class 4A state championship on last May.
Moreover, the Admirals extended their TSSAA state tournament win streak to 17 games on Tuesday.

Aidan Flagg tried to set the tone early for Farragut, smacking a first-inning solo home run.
But Farragut trailed 2-1 after Collierville’s monstrous designated hitter, Langston Reed, belted a two-run in the bottom of the second.
Farragut responded quickly, plating four runs in the top of the third to take a 5-2 lead. Spearheading that offensive outburst was District 4-4A MVP and Mr. Baseball finalist Travis Brummitt, Jr. The starting pitcher helped his cause by lacing a shot to left that scored two. He finished the day with three RBIs.
“I try to play this like two players,” Brummitt said. “Once my hitting job is done, I try and get in the dugout and turn into a pitcher, really.
“I just take it as run support. I don’t really think of it as ‘oh, I’m helping myself.’ I’m helping the team. It’s run support for me, so it’s nice.”
Flagg and Neyland Williams led Farragut with three hits apiece.
The Admirals’ bullpen was to be commended, though. After Brummitt took a hot shot off his hand hit by Reed in the bottom of the fourth, Brummitt powered through the injury to finish the inning. He exited in the fifth, though.
Joey Ray, Braiden Meredith, Flagg and Bradley Wade combined to close the game. Collierville got bases loaded with no outs, but Wade got a double play from the Farragut infield, which allowed one run to score. The next Collierville batter popped out in foul territory.
“Very nice to see,” Brummitt said of the Farragut relievers. “It’s good.”
