CLINTON — After twenty-two straight run plays, Anderson County finally threw a pass.
However, even that play was likely going to be a run until a high snap forced a change of plans.
Brayden Sharpe, starting at quarterback for the injured JD Gillum, had the wherewithal to pick up the loose ball and locate Riley Miller for a 5-yard touchdown.
Who knows how many straight times the Mavericks would have run the ball otherwise.
The play itself is an anecdote, but the story is how Anderson County put together a complete performance in Gillum’s absence on Friday for a 35-7 home win against South-Doyle.
