MURFREESBORO — Neither Mikee Teasley nor Carson Quillen got to play a TSSAA state tournament baseball game Tuesday, as inclement weather put the squash on that.
Nothing, though, dampened their spirits Tuesday morning at the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association’s Mr. Baseball Awards ceremony.
Teasley, a junior at Oak Ridge, and Quillen, a senior at Greeneville, took home the award in Class 4A and 3A, respectively.
Teasley is a University of Tennessee baseball commit and has helped the Wildcats return to the 4A state tournament for a second consecutive season.
Entering this week, Teasley was hitting .391 with 12 doubles, seven home runs, 27 walks and 33 RBIs while going 8-1 on the mound with 113 strikeouts and 1.16 ERA.

Quillen, who was a Tennessee Titans Mr. Football finalist in the fall, has also long been a baseball standout. Coming into the state tournament, Quillen was batting .514 with 19 doubles, three homers, 30 RBIs, 45 walks, 64 runs and 46 stolen bases. On the mound, he’s 8-1 this spring with 60 strikeouts.
Greeneville (32-8) will open state tournament play Wednesday against South Gibson (31-9) while Oak Ridge (34-7) will take on Clarksville (35-7).
