The high school golf postseason commenced late last week, as area programs like the Greeneville Lady Greene Devils, the CAK Warriors and Grace Christian girls claiming district championships.
The district tournament phase continued into Monday, Sept. 21.
Here’s a glimpse into what all happened…
The defending state champion Greeneville Lady Greene Devils got their postseason started the right way, dominating at the District 1-A Tournament at Link Hills. Kamryn Renner shot 71 to earn medalist honors while her sister Kylee claimed runner-up individually with a 72.
South Greene won the boys’ team title in District 1-A, as their top players Brennan Gregg won medalist honors with a 70.
The CAK Warriors and Grace Christian Lady Rams won Division II-A East/District 1 Tournament titles Thursday at Three Ridges.
CAK’s boys edged First Baptist Academy by four to win the 10-team event. Tyler Stafford led CAK with a 70 while Aiden Cooper (72), Roddy Sturgeon (73) and Tanner Varney (74) rounded out the Warriors’ winning total of 289.
Max Green of FBA won medalist honors with a 66 while Alex Green shot 71 to help FBA challenge CAK.
On the girls’ side, Lydia Walker was the only player in the field to break 80. The Grace Christian standout shot a tournament-best 79. Her scorecard, when paired with Leah Rowe’s 88, gave the Lady Rams a winning mark of 167. CAK finished second at 173.
The Division II-A East Region Tournament will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22.
At the District 2-A Tournament on Monday at Island Pointe, the Grainger boys and Gibbs girls won tournament championships.
Olivia Collins and Ivey Collins shot 83 and 85, respectively, to help the Gibbs girls win their title.
Tripp Johnson‘s 73 paced Grainger to a winning total of 317, which cleared second-place Gibbs by 21 shots. Johnson and Gibbs’ Oliver Collins were the only two boys players in the field to shoot in the 70s.
Beaver Brook Country Club played host on Monday to the District 3-AA Tournament, and Halls took advantage of playing on its home course.
Davis Reitz fired a tournament-best 67 to catapult Halls to a winning mark of 299.
Campbell County won the girls District 3-AA Tournament with a winning mark of 201. Central’s Emma Brosnan won girls’ medalist with an 89.
Over in District 4-AA at Gettysvue, defending state champion Hardin Valley Academy won the boys title with a mark of 305. Hunter Mousa led the Hawks with a 72.
The Farragut girls won the District 4-AA title, topping HVA in a playoff. Sophia Williams‘ 70 paced Farragut. Addisyn Newman led HVA with a 70.
