Emma Rainey was a centerpiece of Bearden’s defensive game plan Tuesday night, but her offensive play provided a much-needed spark for the Lady Bulldogs’ soccer team.
The senior defender and team captain scored the first goal of a 4-0 victory against visiting Oak Ridge in the Region 2-AAA elimination semifinals.
Rainey scored on a header off a direct kick by senior midfielder Tyler Roth, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the 26thminute.
It was Rainey’s first career goal.
