The TSSAA posted its new regions for the 2027 and 2028 high school football season, including the teams that opted to move up in classification for those years.
Teams may appeal their region placements to the TSSAA Board of Control on Nov. 19. Appeals must be submitted to the TSSAA no later than Monday, Nov. 16.
Noteworthy changes — for teams from the 5Star Preps area — from the 2026 season to 2027-28 seasons include:
- Oak Ridge from Region 2-6A to Region 1A
- Sevier County moved from Region 1-5A to Region 2-5A
- Meigs County from Region 2-3A to Region 2-2A
- A new Region 3-1A formed featuring teams once located in Region 2-1A
- Clinton drops from 5A to Region 2-4A
- Campbell County, jumping from 5A to 6A, placed in Region 1-6A
- Karns, jumping from 5A to 6A, joins Region 2-6A
- Concord Christian moved from Division II-A to Division II-AA
- Division II-AAA only has two regions because of teams that opted out of region play
