Lakeway Christian Academy’s football team played like it had a point to prove Friday night.
The Lions got their point across with a 41-7 victory over host Webb School of Knoxville.
Lakeway Christian (4-0, 2-0 in Division II-AA East Region) is in its second season under coach Greg Vandagriff.
“What I love for these kids is, we’re in a situation where they’ve been sort of beat down a little bit,” Vandagriff said. “People are like, ‘Awe, Lakeway, they can’t play.’ And now, all we’re doing is going out there and proving it one Friday night at a time. I’m happy for our kids and I’m happy for our community.”
Webb (0-4, 0-2) left David Meske Stadium with plenty of work to be done.
“I thought tonight was the first night that we looked like we played a bunch of freshmen,” first-year Webb coach George Quarles said. “It was really disappointing to come out and perform like that.”
